Searchable Map Shows Land and Water Conservation Fund Projects

: The Wilderness Society

The Wilderness Society has published a searchable map where you can find parks and recreational areas that are supported by the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), including nearly 40 Arizona sites.

The map also gives information about funding by project and county.

The House and Senate both have proposed legislation that would renew the LCWF. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee voted 18-4 on July 30 to advance the Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2015, which includes language to permanently reauthorize the fund.

The House has not voted on H.R. 1814, a bill to reauthorize the fund sponsored by Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz.

The 50-year-old fund, which is generated by royalties from offshore oil and gas drilling leases, is set to expire in 60 days without Congressional action.
